Accident
Reconstruction
Since
1983, our engineers have investigated close to 5000 accidents involving
all types of vehicles and different accident scenarios. We can
provide our clients with a very extensive breadth of practical
experience in this demanding field. Some of the accidents that
we investigate are simple low speed "whiplash" collisions;
while others have involved the very complex analysis of multi-vehicle
collisions. Road design and condition, weather and visibility
conditions, human factors, and mechanical components can all
play their parts in accident causation. And, as in every other
field of endeavour, experience and training are key components
in solving these complex problems.
New
technology has provided many important tools for accident
reconstruction engineers, and we use the best available computer
programs in analysing motor vehicle collisions. We can also
provide animations of the accident reconstruction, which are
of particular benefit in courtroom presentations.
Accident reconstruction engineers must, from time to time,
give evidence as expert witnesses, and our engineers have
testified in Canadian courts over one hundred times. This
experience can also be of great assistance to our legal clients.
Our engineers have provided expert testimony in the field
of seat belt effectiveness, and most of the early cases in
which the Seat Belt Defence was accepted in the Courts in
Alberta, reflected our evidence in this area.
